Alec Armijo

 

GALLUP — Memorial services for Alec Edward Armijo, 20, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, May 7, at Gallup Church of God. Mark Lillie will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.

Armijo died April 17, 2011, in McGaffey. He was born Oct. 22, 1990, in Monterey Park, Calif.
Armijo attended Western NM University northside. He enjoyed spending time with friends and playing a competitive game of basketball. He loved racketball and weight lifting. His most significant passion was spending quality time with his baby sister and mother. Armijo had a heart of gold and when he walked into a room he would bring a smile to everyones face. He loved to spend endless nights talking to his grandpa about stories in the past.

Survivors include his mother, Lynda Armijo; sister, Cellia Martinez.

Armijo was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stanley and Elaine Armijo.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Sheridian, Andrew Chavez, Marquise Estrada, Bianca Ferrari.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Gallup Church of God, 210 Wyatt, Gallup, following services.

Alvina Blea

BERNALILLO — Funeral Mass for Alvina Arellanes Blea, 88, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 7, at St. Teresa Catholic Church. The Rev. Alberto Avella will officiate. Burial will be in Grants Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 p.m., tonight, May 6, at St. Teresa Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited 7 p.m., May 6, at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Deacon Timoteo Lujan will officiate.

Blea died May 4, 2011, in Bernalillo. She was born March 7, 1923, in Grants.
Blea was a former resident of Grants, where she was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church serving in the choir and as church padrino. She later moved to Albuquerque and Bernalillo where she became active with Holy Ghost, Risen Savior and Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Churches and the Bernalillo Senior Citizens Center. She was a devoted wife, mom and grandma, and will be remembered for the love of her family, faith and amazing cooking, and snacks she always had for her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Albert Blea of Grants, Robert Blea of Colorado Springs, Colo., Theresa Blea of Bernalillo, Jo-Ann Polinski of Anderson Creek, N.C.; brother, Pat Saavedra of Milan; sisters, Lydia Dominguez of Grants, Norma Cruz of McAllister, Okla, Dorrie Otero of Cubero; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Blea was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Blea; parents, Jesus Martin Arellanes, Teresita Martinez Arellanes; brothers, Gilbert Saavedra, Monico Saavedra; sisters, Rachel Blea, Lola Chavez, Alvita Chavez.

Pallbearers will be Donny Marez, Zach Blea, Melissa Martinez, Jamie War, Julian Blea, Anthony Chavez.

Rose Hernandez

TULSA, Okla. — Funeral services for Rose M. Hernandez, 67, will be 10 a.m., May 7, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Crystal branch. Hondo B. Louis will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Crystal. Visitation will be for family only.

Hernandez died April 27, 2011, in Tulsa, Okla. She was born March 5, 1944, in Oceanside, Calif., into the Salt People Clan for the Mexican People Clan.

Hernandez attended Mission Elementary, Jefferson Mid School, Oceanside High School. She worked at Tomato Packing plant for 35 years in Oceanside. Her hobbies included bingo, garage sales, watching Chuch Norris movies and watching San Diego Chargers. She enjoyed garage sales and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Santana Escobar Hernandez; son, Alexander Martinez of Tulsa; daughter, Rosemary Vargas of Tulsa; brothers, Louie Martinez, Baldo Martinez, Harold Martinez, Don Martinez, George Martinez, all of Oceanside, Ray B. Louis, Roy B. Louis, Larry B. Louis, all of Crystal, Gary B. Louis of Flagstaff; sisters, Gloria Atine of Monument Valley, Utah, Larraine B. Louis of Crystal; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Hernandez was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Martinez, Eleanor Martinez; sister, Amelia Harvey; brother, Johnny Martinez.

Pallbearers will be Isaiah B. Louis, Jon W. Louis, Jasper L. Martinez, Richard Davis III, Alexander Martinez, George Martinez.

Jimmy Jake

PINE HILL — Funeral services for Jimmy K. Jake, 79, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 7, at Pine Hill Church of God. The Rev. Jenida R. Begay will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Ramah.
Jake died May 1, 2011, in Pine Hill. He was born Aug. 18, 1931, in Ramah, into the Sleeping Rock People Clan for the Mescalero Apache People Clan.

Survivors include his sons, Roie Jaque of Phoenix, Albert Jake of Albuquerque; daughters, Ellen Antonio, Carol J. Smith, Clara Jake, Laverne Jake, Vera J. Beaver, Genova Jake, all of Pine Hill, Louise P. Eldridge o Price, Utah; brothers, Francis Coho of Pine Hill, Monie Jake of Alamo; sisters, Elsie Pino of Pine Hill, Lucy J. Perez of Alamo; 55 grandchildren; 104 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Jake was preceded in death by his wife, Alice R. Jake; brothers, Willie K. Jake, Ben K. Jake, Allen L. Coho, Lee K. Jake; sisters, Mary K. Skeet, Nellie Jake, Susie Jake, Delores Jake, Barbara Jake.

Pallbearers will be Sanandro Natan, Harold Martinez, Rico Secatero, Joshua Natan, Jaythan Natan, Jerome Natan, Ricky Secatero, Mario Gonnie.

Dave James

GANADO — Funeral services for Dave James, 55, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 7, at Ganado Presbyterian Church, Ganado. The Rev. Tom White will officiate. Burial will be in Klagetoh Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m., May 7, at Ganado Presbyterian Church.

James died May 3, 2011, in Tucson. He was born Aug. 18, 1955, in Fort Defiance.

James worked for the NN Parks and Rec in Window Rock for 20 years. He also coordinated the PRCA Rodeo Which included The Wild Horse Races and also was the NN Fair Manager for many years. His hobbies included hunting, camping, fishing and taking his sons to wrestling matches and supported his children in Junior Rodeos.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl James of Coolfield, Ganado; sons, Dave James Jr. of Albuquerque, Richard James, Simon James, both of Coolfield, Ganado; daughters, Davina Whitethorne of Tuba City, Marissa Keams of Many Farms, Kristie James, Krystle James, both of Albuquerque, Rachelle James of Coolfields; mother, Susie James of Klagetoh; brothers, Donald James of Prewitt, Leonard James of Gallup; sisters, Blanche Raymond of Farmington, Colleen Roanhorse of Klagetoh, Julia James of Holbrook, Fernanda James of Winslow; five grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his father, Guy James; brother, Paul James.

Pallbearers will be Dave James Jr., Don James, Reggie James, Travis Francisco, Matthew James, Derrick James.

Florence James

SANDERS — Funeral services for Florence Myrtle James, 87, will be 11 a.m., May 7, at St. John’s the Evangelist Church. The Rev. Cormac Antram will officiate. Burial will be in Houck Community Cemetery.

James died May 2, 2011, in Sanders. She was born Nov. 16, 1923, in Cornfields, into the Black Sheep People Clan for the Tangle People Clan.
James was a homemaker. Her hobbies included reading, word searches, spending time with grandchildren, sewing, weaving rugs and gardening.

Survivors include her sons, Lewellen James of Sanders, Willie James of Window Rock, Phillip James of Gallup, Jerry James of Farmington, Sammy James of Flagstaff, Tommy James Jr. of Sanders; daughters, Ida James, Gloria James, Lorena M. James, all of Sanders; 30 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

James was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy James Sr.; parents, Robertson, Margaret James; sons, Raymond James, Roy James.
Pallbearers will be Philbert James, Percy James, Byron James, Parnell James, Emeric James, Wilson Parker.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Houck Chapter House, following services.

Sarah Tom

BORREGO PASS — Funeral services for Sarah Begay Tom, 49, will be 10 a.m., May 7, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.

Tom died May 1, 2011, in Gallup. She was born May 2, 1962, in Crownpoint, into the Towering House People Clan for the Meadow People Clan.
Tom worked in various places and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Alson tom; sons, Alton Tom, Alonzo Tom; daughters, Shawna Kee, Shawny Tom, Alexia Tom; brothers, Tom Begay, Darryl Grey; sisters, Alice Delgarito, Virginia Tom, Freda Begay, Laberta Grey, Bernice Begay; five grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha G. Herrera, Martin Begay; brothers, Jerry M. Begay, Tony Benally.

Pallbearers will be Alonzo Tom, Alton Tom, Irvin Tom, Marshall Tom, Darryl Grey, Truman Begaye.
